Welcome!
The SPOA 149 Foundation was founded in 2016 to give frontline SPOA members a charitable program to help build bridges in the community. What started in the 1990’s as the Memorial Scholarship Fund has grown into the organization you see today.
The 1849 Foundation proudly serves in four charitable programs:
- Memorial Scholarship – Provides educational support via scholarships to SPOA family members and the Sacramento community.
- Crisis Relief – Provides financial assistance, crisis support, grievance counselling, and peer support to members of the Sacramento Police Dept, their families as well as regional public safety organizations.
- Athletics – Provides support to SPOA members who participate in sporting events that demonstrate a charitable contribution to Sacramento charities and public safety organizations.
- History – Provides support for the collection, preservation, interpretation and display of historical artifacts and records related to the Sacramento Police Dept.
With compassion and diligence, I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve the community and our officers that put their lives on the line every day. Thank you for being here, and we deeply appreciate your support.
Sincerely,
Officer, Michael L. Boyd
President SPOA 1849 Foundation
